Outside of archival research, I work within Natural Language Processing and use R and Python. I am at work on a short manual on Japanese NLP that outlines and proposes solutions to common issues with tokenizing and parsing Japanese-language text for analysis.

Harvard Digital Projects

As digital postdoctoral fellow at Harvard’s Reischauer Institute of Japanese Studies, I will be involved in two ongoing digital projects, the Japan Disaster Archive and the Constitutional Revision Project.

Disaster Communication

Colleagues at the University of Amsterdam and I created a collaborative geolocation and mapping project on post-Fukushima tweets: Mapping the JD Archive. Results and methods are here, the final presentation of the week-long project is here.
